The Sultan's Claw
We started our Legacy of Fire game this Saturday. S1, D1, and D2 are playing with me for now. This game is about an evil genie who has set plans in motion to unleash a terrible demon from ancient times. The heroes are from a desert land where they have learned to endure the heat and conserve their food and water to survive. Their country is very much like Arabia or Baghdad in Aladdin. There are 3 heroes (player characters) and my support character. Here are their descriptions: |
- Othello, a halfling sorceror. His mother's dad was a fire genie (although nobody in the family talks about that). He is unusually able to resist fire and runs like the wind. You may notice that when he summons his magic, his hair turns from brown to red. He has recently tried to join the Pathfinders Guild, and is being considered for admission
- Jasmine is an elven rogue from the savannahs of southern Katapesh. She is used to living on her own and surviving in the wilderness. Her sister, Jasmine (the Unknown from the previous campaign) was last in Katapesh visiting a ruined city named Kelmarane and Jasmine hopes to meet her there. Jasmine is an avid cook and is learning to brew beer.
- Katie is a sand elf druid from the deserts of northern Katapesh. Her family was killed in the battle of Kelmarane when demonic forces caused a massacre in the town. Her only inheritance from her parents is a longbow named "Desert Sting" that she is learning to use. Recently she has adopted a sand kitten named Sandy, who was also orphaned in the desert. Sandy is a bobcat who likes to eat desert critters while Katie sleeps.
- Ibrahim ben-Yousef is a priest of Sarenrae who wanders the desert, looking for pilgrims in distress to aid. He fights evil with a scimitar and creates magic water for lost travellers. He is particularly an enemy of gnoll slavers and fights them wherever he finds them.
- Othello was asked by the mercenaries to grab a rope and help pull the burning wagon away from the others. Othello was too weak to pull, but he had the bright idea of hitching his camel to the wagon and moving it quickly. The mercenaries were quite impressed - "How come we didn't think of that?"
- Katie helped Almah and Garavel put out the fire. Almah went to get the drinking water barrel to put out the flames, but Katie told her to stop - "I can create magic water, don't use the drinking water!" Katie quickly doused the flames by creating water in the air which poured over the fire.
- Ibrahim healed two mercenaries who were burned trying to put out the fire. A priest named Father Zastoran was ministering to them, but he didn't seem to have any magic to cure their wounds. Ibrahim quickly went through all of his healing powers and was able to save the two.
- Jasmine helped the camel drivers collect the panicked animals. Unfortunately, she was not any good at handling animals (that was really Katie's niche). Jasmine was not successful but the camel drivers thanked her for trying.
