The image on the left is my new murloc (you can see the original here). This piece has a base coat of silver with some green mixed in, for a pale sheen. I decided that I like the color and effect, enough to buy another bottle of silver for mixing with colors. Of course, I'm not going to leave the figure like this, but I'm not sure what I want to paint over it.
The image in the middle is a worgen, or World of Warcraft werewolf. I gave him a base coat of rusty red, which could be due to the human form's red hair, or it could be a full-body blood bath (see Elizabeth Bathory)!
The image on the right is a wildkin, which looks like a cross between a jackalope and an owlbear (I'm sure that was helpful). This is yet another World of Warcraft figure, and is a bit larger than the other pieces. I based him in flesh color, which looks reasonably similar to the color of a denuded antler. I applied a wash on top of the flesh, a red-orange-brown mix which may have come from the leftovers of the werewolf base coat.
Here are the other three figures I started in March. The left is a Scarlet Crusader, also from World of Warcraft (see a pattern here?) He's sort of a knight dedicated to fighting the undead, but his order has become a cult engaging in ends-justify-the-means sort of behavior. The base coat is also flesh colored, although I wish I had based the chain mail in black because the holes show flesh color, which eventually ended up reminding me of fishnet stockings...
The middle picture is another naga, with a base color of mixed black and purple. In retrospect, I'm not sure why I went for a dark base coat if I want a brighter, rainbow color scheme. The image on the right is a shadow demon, where the base of black and purple looks much better. These six pieces are the ones I've been working on through June.
Here are some pieces I primed for the kids to work on. These are from the D&D Adventure System games, which have unpainted miniatures with the board games. The figures are a cave bear, a shrouded cultist, and a zombie dragon; the zombie dragon is a large piece, and I have it next to the Scarlet Crusader for comparison of scale.
